str.split()is heavily optimized in C, automatically handles consecutive whitespace, inherently drops empty strings, and performs significantly faster while avoiding regex compilation overhead.📊 Impact: Reduces whitespace tokenization time by ~9x.
🔬 Measurement: Verified with Python's
