Background
Usability-feedback round 24 (2026-08-24, revision 9cefd73). Reported at 4/10 with 2 wasted round trips.
Problem
--captured-variables full clips collection previews at the cap fixed when the pause point was enabled. When a trace run reveals that the clipped tail is exactly what the user needs, the only way to see more elements is to clear the marker and enable a new one with a larger cap — which discards the accumulated hit history that made the investigation possible in the first place.
Proposal
Either of:
- Allow updating the preview cap on an existing marker (keeping history), or
- At minimum, when the response reports
ElementsTruncated, include guidance stating the current cap, how to raise it, and that re-creating the marker resets history — so the trade-off is visible before the user destroys their trace.
Severity
4/10 (workaround exists but silently costs the collected history).
