Software like Smaart, OpenSoundMeter, RoomEQWizard are great but sometimes overly complicated for quick calculations of:
- delay timings
- PA EQ Curves
- Crossover Points
My thoughts are if you have the following Matrixes
1: Main PA (top & midrange)
2: Main Subs
3: Delays 1
4: Delays 2
Reference Mics
XLR RTA Mic plugged in to Local 8 - or -
USB RTA Mic plugged into USB Port - https://www.minidsp.com/products/acoustic-measurement/umik-2
(and imported the calibration file cal.txt)
Tell "OMC PA-Wizard" that 1-2 are Mains and 3-4 are Subs etc...
It then does a sweep/pink 20-20k on each output, takes a measurement.
Would you like to make more measurements? ( Yes / No ) - if more measurements average them together.
- Suggests crossover points between the subs and tops - Apply (yes / no)
- Suggests a delay factor between the sub/top to time align - Apply (yes / no)
- Suggests a correction EQ taking into account natural rolloff at crossover points - Apply (yes / no)
- Suggest if an output is out of phase: Phase Alignment
All of this information is to be easily modified from a single "System Tech" overview page, for easy adjustment and tweaks by a human.
